Folks, are you as sick as I am about this group “Antifa”? They claim they want to take on the “Nazi’s” but apparently anyone to the right of Hillary Clinton is a Nazi to them. Unfortunately, they are no laughing matter because they truly do mean to shut down opposing voices.
Here is just an example of that. Some non-leftist bands want to play a show. Antifa hears about it. They contact the owner of the club to tell him that violence will ensue if the bands play even though the violence will be perpetrated by…Antifa. Club owner doesn’t want violence at his establishment so he cancels the show.
This is a perfect example of the “heckler’s veto”. Heckler doesn’t like what is being said, makes a stink, threatens violence, people cave and ultimately the heckler wins because what he doesn’t like is banned.
No different from the mafia of the old days. “Nice establishment you have here. I’d hate to see something happen to it.” I.e., give us money for protection or else we break things.
But the mafia wasn’t political. They just wanted money. Antifa IS nothing but political, with the politics on their terms. You don’t like what they like, you are a Nazi and must be driven out. Doesn’t matter what the issue is, if you are on the other side of it, you WILL pay, with blood if need be.
And this is where my comparison to the Bolsheviks comes in. Anyone and everyone who is on the other side of the political spectrum from them will be made to heel.
I know a guy who plays in one of these bands from the article. The farthest thing from a Nazi is this guy. Yet, because he’s not a commie, he and his band are labelled Nazi’s and banned from playing shows.
We used to live in a free society that said if you don’t like something, don’t subject yourself to it. Don’t like a certain movie because of the politics, don’t see it. Don’t like a certain band because of their politics don’t listen.
Now, though, ignoring what you don’t like is not enough. Antifa will make that decision for you, just like the Bolsheviks did in 1917. That didn’t turn out so well did it?
